# Download and install

Download Vraelis Prompto for Windows, macOS or Linux, or install the Python package with pip.

## Download

Each download is one file with everything it needs, so you do not need Python. They are not yet code-signed, so Windows and macOS warn the first time you run one.

| System | File | SHA-256 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Windows (x64) | [vraelis-0.1.2-windows-x64.exe](https://github.com/sansxelt/vraelis-cli/releases/download/v0.1.2/vraelis-0.1.2-windows-x64.exe) | `82b1ecf425ae8a0e3b76879fde53cfd8bfa7a30f0060253d6854317ca1bcb9d0` |
| macOS (Apple silicon) | [vraelis-0.1.2-macos-arm64.tar.gz](https://github.com/sansxelt/vraelis-cli/releases/download/v0.1.2/vraelis-0.1.2-macos-arm64.tar.gz) | `e62d0b0660b45d4c4b7d2342a9ad62b699ee2430738cb558dcef3ea6901940ff` |

| Linux (x64) | [vraelis-0.1.2-linux-x64.tar.gz](https://github.com/sansxelt/vraelis-cli/releases/download/v0.1.2/vraelis-0.1.2-linux-x64.tar.gz) | `d22e7cc11bd7928633cab099690f293e95fd75a573f2c6eef18441c47a0446fd` |

1. Windows: rename the file to `vraelis.exe` and open a terminal in its folder. If Windows says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.
2. macOS: double-click the archive to unpack it, then open Terminal in that folder. The first time, right-click `vraelis`, choose Open, then Open again.
3. Linux: `tar -xzf` the archive, then run `./vraelis` from that folder.
4. Check it runs: `vraelis --version`.

Check each file against [SHA256SUMS-downloads](https://github.com/sansxelt/vraelis-cli/releases/download/v0.1.2/SHA256SUMS-downloads) from the same release: `certutil -hashfile FILE SHA256` on Windows, `shasum -a 256 FILE` on macOS, `sha256sum FILE` on Linux. The downloads are built from the release's source and smoke-tested before they are attached.

## Install with pip

For developers who prefer the Python package: Python 3.11 or newer. It is not on PyPI yet, so install the wheel from the release and check it against `SHA256SUMS`.

pip:

```bash
pip install https://github.com/sansxelt/vraelis-cli/releases/download/v0.1.2/vraelis-0.1.2-py3-none-any.whl
# with the optional signature check (adds model-signing 1.1.1):
pip install "vraelis[signature] @ https://github.com/sansxelt/vraelis-cli/releases/download/v0.1.2/vraelis-0.1.2-py3-none-any.whl"
```

> **Running it safely.** Run the installed `vraelis` command, `python -I -m vraelis`, or from a checkout `PYTHONPATH=<checkout> python -P -m vraelis`. A plain `python -m vraelis` is refused, because Python would put the current folder first on its module path and a folder holding its own `vraelis` package could run code first.
